Dam could protect Calgary from future floods

A reservoir and hydroelectricity dam west of Cochrane could be one of the best defences neighbourhoods like Bowness and Sunnyside have against future floods, city council was told Monday.

Tervita to complete home remediations by Christmas

By the new year, there will be fewer signs of Tervita around High River as the company plans to complete its home remediation program by Christmas. They now have approximately 10 High River homes left to work.

Victory for flood victims in High River

High River Legion in rebuilding stage

Although the High River Legion Branch 71 has been in a temporary location since June’s flood, it’s still running on all cylinders and looks forward to moving back home in the spring.

Staying put: More than half of homeowners in floodways reject offers to relocate

High River faces daunting post-flood rebuild

“Open for business”, “Coming soon”, “Stay strong”, “We’re back”.

Signs trumpeting those phrases hang in storefront windows throughout downtown High River. They suggest the town and business owners, hobbled five months ago by an unforgiving flood, are well on their way to a full recovery.
