New rankings released Wednesday revealing the research income of Canada’s colleges found that of the 50 leading research institutions nation-wide, Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) is one of the best in class.

SD 76 receives about $1M for 2013-14 infrastructure

The province has given SD 76 $1,062,894 for infrastructure and maintenance projects for the 2013-14 year.

“It doesn’t go far in trying to meet our needs,” said secretary-treasurer Jerry Labossiere to trustees on Tuesday, presenting SD 76′s 2013-14 expenditure plan for the funding.

Town moves on fire hall project

In a 4-3 vote at its last regular meeting, Town of Peace River council decided to pay $4.5 million between now and 2015 for a new regional fire hall.

The facility will be located on the west hill, comes at a total cost of $9 million which will be shared down the middle with the County of Northern Lights.
