Calgary condo market continues growth curve

CALGARY — Calgary’s development as a major metropolitan centre is fuelling a growing desire for an urban lifestyle which is spiking condo sales in the market.

According to the Calgary Real Estate Board, MLS condo sales continued to rise in the month of May.

Calgary region building permits rise in April

CALGARY — The value of building permits in the Calgary region jumped to $772.7 million in April, according to Statistics Canada.

The federal agency reported Wednesday that permits were up 40.6 per cent from March and increased by 12.9 per cent year-over-year.

Central Alberta companies listed among fastest growing

Two Central Alberta companies are represented on Profit magazine’s 2013 list of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies.

Rifco Inc. of Red Deer and Bilton Welding and Manufacturing Ltd. of Innisfail both cracked the Profit 500 rankings. Rifco holds the 85th spot while Bilton was No. 360.

Canada manufacturing PMI strongest level in nearly a year

TORONTO, June 3 (Reuters) – Canada’s manufacturing growth expanded at its fastest pace in nearly a year in May, according to data released on Monday, underpinned by new orders which pushed output back into growth mode for the first time in three months.

Canada recovers from sluggish second half of 2012 with strong first quarter

(Reuters) – Solid exports helped Canada’s economy grow at a higher-than-expected annualized rate of 2.5 percent in the first quarter, the fastest pace in six quarters, after a sluggish second half of 2012, Statistics Canada said on Friday.
