Two Central Alberta companies are represented on Profit magazine’s 2013 list of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies.
Rifco Inc. of Red Deer and Bilton Welding and Manufacturing Ltd. of Innisfail both cracked the Profit 500 rankings. Rifco holds the 85th spot while Bilton was No. 360.

And the 2012 Alberta Summer Games actually turned a $140,000 profit.
That was the news Monday for Lethbridge city council. George Virtue, chair of the late-July event, told council more than $90,000 of the proceeds will be shared by arts and sports groups in Lethbridge.

EDMONTON – Canadian Western Bank (TSX:CWB) earned $43 million in its latest quarter, up from $35.9 million a year ago, helped by improved revenue and loan growth.
The regional bank also increased Tuesday its quarterly dividend by a penny to 17 cents per share.

MONTREAL — The destructive wrath of Hurricane Sandy will help boost recovery in Canada’s forest products industry next year as communities in New York City area and along the New Jersey coast rebuild, the head of Resolute Forest Products said Friday.
“When you look at the devastation it’s mind boggling and it’s going to have an impact,” CEO Richard Garneau said in an interview.
