Edmonton’s non-residential building permits increase in March

EDMONTON, AB, May. 8, 2013/ Troy Media/ – The value of building permits issued in the Edmonton Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) increased dramatically in March. According to the latest Statistics Canada data, contractors in the Edmonton CMA took out building permits worth $850 million in March – a level that is more than double the total value of permits issued in March 2012.

Alberta economic momentum softens

CALGARY — Economic momentum has softened in Alberta alongside tempered enthusiasm in the energy sector.

The Blue Book report, released Wednesday by the BMO Financial Group, said Alberta’s economy is expected to expand by a more modest 2.5 per cent this year after growing 3.9 per cent in 2012, “sluggish by the standard set over the past decade.”
