Calgary’s South Health Campus emergency department opens its doors Monday

In the midst of an especially tight crunch for health care, the province’s largest hospital will swing open the doors to its brand new emergency department Monday.

As of 7 a.m., the South Health Campus’ emergency department (ED), boasting some 30 beds — 90% of them in private rooms — is ready to accept patients.

The infrastructure for an additional 30 beds, to be added down the road, is in place.

$4.5-million ICU renovations for hospital complete

Renovations and upgrades to Fort McMurray’s Northern Lights Regional Health Centre are now complete.

Part of a $4.5 million capital project funded by the Alberta government, which began earlier this year, the health centre’s intensive care unit has been expanded from six to seven beds, increasing patient and staff comfort and safety. The patient recovery room has also been expanded from four beds to eight and a much needed isolation room was also added.

New CRH wing has future in mind

Regional Hospital’s new five-storey, 19,500-square-metre wing will certainly attract attention.

Community members had an opportunity to view renderings and floor plans for the project Wednesday night during a community information session. And according to Robert Storrier, public affair officer with Alberta Infrastructure, it won’t take long before those artist’s drawings become reality.

CRH 5-storey expansion to be complete by 2015

Providing patient-centred, quality health care to Lethbridge and its surrounding communities requires not only great practitioners and programs, but also excellent facilities to meet those needs.

The Chinook Regional Hospital’s new 5-storey, 19,000-square-metre wing, is moving ahead on schedule, and officials anticipate completion by 2105, said Senior Project Manager Larry Raymond.

Budget now $127.8 million for Lethbridge hospital project

Premier Commits $20 Million More to Hospital Project

Total price tag for the expansion is up to $220 million

Alberta Premier Alison Redford was in the Gas City on Thursday morning to announce that an additional $20 million has been added to the original budget of $200 million for the expansion of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
