With the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital being the newest one in the province, there are still some challenges left to overcome, but strides are being made.
As of Thursday, Feb. 14, the local hospital is being included in Alberta Health Service’s list of online up-to-date wait times for emergency rooms.
“I think what it does is it gives (the public) another option for what their options are and what their wait time will be when they get there,” said Debbie Goulard, executive director of AHS.

The thumping sounds of construction activity is a sure sign things are happening with the expansion of Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
“Excavating down two or three metres for the piles will continue for another week and concrete pouring has already begun for the piles,” said Larry Raymond, hospital construction manager, Alberta Infrastructure. “Soon we will be pouring concrete for more than one pile a day.”
