Calgary leads Canada in terms of population growth; some question whether we can afford it

According to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada, Cowtown leads the country in terms of population growth at a rate of 4.3 per cent.

St. Albert could almost double in size within the next 30 years, suggests a new report, and Nolan Crouse says that means another annexation from Sturgeon County in the near future.

Town’s population exceeds 26,000 mark

Okotoks’ population continued to grow over the last year, but Town officials say there is no risk of hitting the water limit in 2013.

Airdrie just shy of 50,000 residents

Airdrie’s latest census is in and results suggest the city is continuing to grow at a rapid pace.

Airdrie’s population clocks in at 49,560 — a growth rate of 8.42 per cent from 2012. Overall, the population grew by 3,849 residents, or 11 new people per day. In 2012, the population only grew by 2,556 residents from 2011 numbers.

Sylvan’s official population 13,015; hundreds could be missing

Rapid growth has continued in Sylvan Lake, according to the most recent count of residents.

It also remains a young community with 54 per cent of the population under 35, 25 per cent of that figure 16 or under.
