Alberta unemployment rate dips to 4.3%

CALGARY — Alberta’s unemployment rate dipped to 4.3 per cent in September, down from 4.8 per cent the previous month, and is tied with Saskatchewan for the lowest level in the country, says Statistics Canada.

Jobless rate falls but still higher than last year

Lethbridge below the national unemployment rate in June

Yesterday, information regarding the unemployment rate for the Lethbridge–Medicine Hat region was released.

Last month, the unemployment Rate was 6.0%, which was a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from May. The Lethbridge region remains below the national average of 7.1% which was unchanged from May.

CALGARY — The number of Calgary people receiving regular Employment Insurance benefits in April continued to fall, according to Statistics Canada.

14,000 jobs lost? Not very likely

It has been both head-scratching and gnashing of teeth regarding the recent Conference Board of Canada report that there are 14,000 fewer jobs in Medicine Hat and immediate area than there were in 2008.

The number is astounding… a little too astounding, actually.

Unemployment rates fell in 26 states

WASHINGTON (AP) — Unemployment rates fell in more than half the states in March even though job growth slowed.

Rates fell largely because many of those out of work stopped looking for jobs and were no longer counted as unemployed.
