Land annexation helps growing Fort Saskatchewan
In Dec., 2019, the Government of Alberta approved the uncontested annexation agreement between the City of Fort Saskatchewan and Strathcona County, which saw Fort Saskatchewan acquire 952.32 hectares of land from the County as well as a handful of new residents. On Jan. 23 those new Fort Saskatchewan residents were invited to join the Mayor and Council at the Shell Theatre for a meet, greet and information session to welcome residents to the City. Booths were set up in the Shell Theatre lobby to help acquaint the new residents to the services, programs and licences in Fort Saskatchewan.
