Local home sales down for another month

Sales of single family homes in Medicine Hat fell 22 per cent in March compared to the same month last year, according to statistics presented Friday by the local Real Estate Board.

Sales of other residential properties and lot sales also lagged, though the commercial and industrial sections of the market posted a strong value gain compared to March 2012.

Calgary luxury condo market sets record for MLS sales

CALGARY — Calgary’s luxury condo market has set a record for MLS sales for any month.

Between March 1-21, there were nine condo sales in Calgary in the price tag of $1 million-plus, according to Mike Fotiou, associate broker with First Place Realty in Calgary. For the entire month of March 2012, there were two sales in that price range.

Home Prices Log Best Gain Since 2006: Case-Shiller

U.S. single-family home prices picked up in December, closing out 2012 with the biggest yearly gain in more than six years as the housing market got back on its feet, a closely watched survey showed on Tuesday.

The S&P/Case Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas rose 0.9 percent in December on a seasonally adjusted basis, topping expectations for a gain of 0.5 percent.

On a non-adjusted basis, prices were up 0.2 percent.

Calgary repeat home sales see prices fall

CALGARY — House prices in Calgary for repeat home sales dipped slightly in January in line with a trend across the country.

The Teranet-National Bank National Composite House Price index, released Wednesday, said prices in Calgary were down 0.1 per cent from the previous month and nationally they were down 0.3 per cent, the fifth consecutive monthly decline.

Calgary prices for repeat home sales climb

CALGARY — House price growth for repeat home sales in Calgary topped the Canadian average in December, according to the Teranet-National Bank National Composite House Price Index, which was released Wednesday.

The index showed prices in Calgary in December grew by 4.1 per cent year-over-year while the 12-month gain in 11 metropolitan markets across the country increased by 3.1 per cent.

Home sales up in December

According to recent statistics, Grande Prairie home values should increase over the next year.

The Grande Prairie and Area Association of Realtors released numbers last week, which highlighted a dramatic increase in home sales in December 2012 as well as the 20th consecutive year-over-year increase.

Grande Prairie realtors sold 141 units in December, which is marked as a 31% increase from one year prior. This can be compared to the average Alberta statistics, which dipped 2% from the previous year.
