High River residents can return to homes starting Saturday

High River residents whose homes are in the northwest part of the flood-ravaged community can go back to their homes as early as tomorrow, the province announced, as plans for a staged re-entry were unveiled this afternoon.

City holds the line on lot sizes

St. Albert won’t change how many lots of different sizes it will require of residential developers.

Councillors on Monday voted down first reading of an amendment that would have changed the lot width mix in low-density residential developments, or R1 areas.

Calgary house price growth best in Canada

CALGARY — Calgary’s housing market continued in May to shine compared with the rest of the country as the city’s year-over-year price growth was the best in Canada and the increase in MLS sales activity topped all other major markets.

Housing starts remain brisk

Residential builders in Red Deer remained busy in May, with 53 starts on single-family houses in the city during the month, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.

New home market gets resale boost

City homebuilders say they’re seeing an increase in interest in new homes among house hunters this year.

One reason for the upswing has been an ease in resale home listings, says Mike Selinger, vice-president of sales and marketing for Cardel Homes.

Home sale market tightening up in town

Okotoks’ real estate market is getting a little tighter with dwindling supply, rising demand and higher prices.

The number of homes listed for sale in Okotoks is down and the average price for a house has climbed above the $400,000 mark.

April strong for Airdrie real estate market

Statistics released by the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB) suggest that April was another strong month for Airdrie real estate.

Not only was there an increase in the number of home sales, the average sale price increased significantly as well, said realtor Matt Carre.
