U.S. Taps Strategic Petroleum Reserve After Hurricane Harvey
U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry authorized on Thursday an emergency release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) of 500,000 barrels of crude oil after Hurricane Harvey disrupted the petroleum industry in Texas and Louisiana, and led to motor fuel price spikes and shortages.

Payroll employment, earnings and hours, June 2017
Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $974 in June, little changed from the previous month, and up 1.8% compared with 12 months earlier.

Gross domestic product, income and expenditure, second quarter 2017
Real gross domestic product (GDP) rose 1.1% in the second quarter, following a 0.9% gain in the first quarter. The cumulative growth in the first two quarters of the year (+2.0%) was the strongest since 2002 (+2.1%). Household final consumption expenditure and exports of goods were important contributors to second quarter growth.
