Parks bylaw gets an update

After discussing changes earlier in the spring, Strathcona County council moved forward last week with revisions to the municipality’s Parks Bylaw and approved a naming a park after a former council member.

Municipality passes amended event land-use bylaw

Almost a year after an annual Halloween county fair caused a stir, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has finished the process of creating a permit for special events on private property.

Council gives first reading to property tax bylaw

City council has given first reading to the 2013 property tax bylaw.

If approved, this means an increase of 2.24% for residential property, 1.48% for multi-family property and 6.67% for non-residential property.

Public speaks out about Edmonton’s controversial mature neighbourhoods bylaw

EDMONTON – A plan to change development rules in Edmonton’s mature neighbourhoods continued to divide opinions Monday when it returned to city council.

Council heard from community members Monday night and will meet Tuesday afternoon with city administration before making a decision.

Rewrite of Land Use Bylaw underway

The city continues to work towards completely rewriting its Land Use Bylaw, in hopes of making the document more consistent and user-friendly.

According to Naren Garg, senior planner for the city and lead of the rewrite, they’ve been tackling the project for about two years now and it’s in final stages.

Land Use bylaw revised, includes slack on RV rules

The most contentious points of a new Land Use bylaw will show major revisions when they are presented to the public this week, including a scaling back of proposed restrictions on RV parking in residential zones and a sign bylaw.
