It looks like the changes council made last year to its false alarm bylaw are having the desired affect.
According to statistics included in the city’s first quarter report, presented to council on Monday, the number of false alarms has dropped by two-thirds compared to the first quarter of 2012.

With the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital being the newest one in the province, there are still some challenges left to overcome, but strides are being made.
As of Thursday, Feb. 14, the local hospital is being included in Alberta Health Service’s list of online up-to-date wait times for emergency rooms.
“I think what it does is it gives (the public) another option for what their options are and what their wait time will be when they get there,” said Debbie Goulard, executive director of AHS.

The long-awaited South Health Campus emergency department opened Jan. 14.
The emergency room deals with some cases that can’t be handled at Okotoks Urgent Care Department, but patient numbers haven’t dropped at the Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre since the emergency room in Calgary opened.
The hospital is located in the south Calgary in Auburn Bay and is staffed to handle up to 200 patients a day, with 70 registered nurses and nine paramedics on staff. There are between one to five doctors in the emergency room throughout the day and a pediatrician on from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
