Action Park gets boost

Bowden’s proposed Action Park got a $50,000 boost from Red Deer County.

Council approved a request on Tuesday from the Bowden committee behind a new park featuring a skateboard facility, outdoor rink, horseshoe pits and picnic area.

After years of discussion, the city is ready to approve construction on a new skateboard park. It could soon rise on the corner of North Parkside and Mayor Magrath Drive S., next to the Henderson Arena.

Temporary business park scaled down

Plans have been reduced for High River’s temporary business park. The Sprung Structure slated for First Street will now only house 15 businesses, as opposed to the over 50 as originally envisioned.

It couldn’t be more democratic. The city’s new regional park has been designed by the people, for the people.

And it’s going to be busy 12 months a year, predicts city parks manager Dave Ellis. He outlined his expectations for the 73-acre northside park to city council this week.
