MD postpones decision on proposed car lot

Foothills MD council will postpone a decision on a proposal for a car lot north of Okotoks after their Town counterparts raised concerns and asked for the matter to be put on hold.

MD council is considering an application by the owner of Southridge Chrysler to approve a development plan for new dealership on a 4.4 acre site along Highway 2A less than a kilometer north of Okotoks.

Calgary officials mull rescue plan for historic Eamon’s Camp

The historic Eamon’s Camp building could once again become a fixture near its original home, a space set to become an LRT lot.

A report to the city’s Transportation and Transit committee suggests services for the 1950s-era gas station camp be installed as part of the Northwest LRT Park and Ride tender so options for the old building remain open.

Meadowlands approved for 34 RV lot expansion to existing campground

During their regular meeting Monday night, Sylvan Lake Municipal Planning Commission members:

• approved the request of Meadowlands Golf Club to add an additional 34 fully serviced recreation vehicle sites at the most westerly boundary of the property, abutting 50th Street and west of the current sites. There are already 99 fully serviced sites on the property.

Marlborough Mall looks at expanding with pad sites in parking lot

CALGARY — The northeast Marlborough Mall is planning to put pad sites into its parking lot to increase the number of stores at the shopping centre.

Kim Wiltse, marketing director of Marlborough Mall with 20Vic Management Inc. which operates the centre, said about 10,000 square feet is being added to the west side of the mall’s parking area.

Park and ride costs jump $7 million

The projected cost of a proposed new park and ride in St. Albert has jumped approximately $7 million and could grow even more, leaving city council to wonder if the project might need to be scaled back.

On Monday night council received an update on the cost for the Campbell Park Transit Station and Park and Ride. While it had been submitted to the province for grant funding in 2010 with an estimate of $30 million, the cost in 2013 dollars works out to $37 million.
