Lethbridge residents shouldn’t lose heart just yet about the possibility of a Target store coming to the city.
Lisa Gibson, spokeswoman for Target Canada, didn’t provide a specific answer as to whether Lethbridge is on Target’s radar for a store but she did say additional locations will be considered in the next few years.

July 16 is the targeted opening date for the new Target store in Medicine Hat.

CALGARY — Shoppers in Calgary will get their first chance to shop at Target when three new stores open Tuesday morning.

Renovations continue at Zellers’ former premises in Bower Place Shopping Centre in preparation for the opening of a Target store there. Target Corp. said previously that the Red Deer store will be among the first wave of 48 outlets to open in Canada this spring.

City crews are out in earnest repairing potholes, with an ambitious target to hit for 2013.
Pothole rehabilitation started back in late February, but the two crews dedicated solely to potholes began their work at the beginning of April. In addition, other city crews may be dispatched to do pothole work when circumstances allow.

The arrival of Target is generating momentum at the local mall.
Jillian Creech, general manager at St. Albert Centre, said requests for leasing space are picking up.
“We expect that there is going to be a lot of change in the next 12 to 18 months,” she said. “So, yes, momentum is building.”

CALGARY HERALD – Calgarians offered jobs by Target Canada this week said they were told the first stores in the city will open mid-May.
The chain — whose U.S. division is the second largest discount retailer south of the border — has not confirmed exact opening dates, saying only that its Chinook Centre, Market Mall, Forest Lawn, and Shoppes at Shawnessy locations will open sometime this spring.

Thanks in part to Target, Starbucks Canada will be undertaking the biggest expansion effort in its history this year, with plans to open more than 150 new locations across the country.
The subsidiary of Seattle-based Starbucks Corp. will open outlets inside many of the 124 Target locations opening in Canada in 2013 beginning next month – but the exact number is still a secret, Starbucks Canada president Annie Young-Scrivener said Friday.

The arrival of American retail giant Target will have a major impact on St. Albert, increasing competition, attracting more shoppers and creating jobs, say local experts.
Construction of the St. Albert outlet is well underway, though the opening date remains a secret. There is speculation it will open in late spring or summer.
In all, Target will open 124 stores across Canada, most in former Zellers’ locations, and hire some 27,000 employees, not including an unknown number of marketing specialists and consultants who were brought in to help the retailer enter the Canadian market.
