Calgary commuters are driving up sales at car2go, the ever-popular car-sharing company that grew faster here than in any other North American market over the past year. The company, which started in Germany, nearly tripled its Calgary fleet of blue and silver Smart cars in the past 12 months, putting 400 cars on the road, and registered 35,000 customers. In the company’s first year in Vancouver, it claimed 21,000 paid users.

MD postpones decision on proposed car lot

Foothills MD council will postpone a decision on a proposal for a car lot north of Okotoks after their Town counterparts raised concerns and asked for the matter to be put on hold.

MD council is considering an application by the owner of Southridge Chrysler to approve a development plan for new dealership on a 4.4 acre site along Highway 2A less than a kilometer north of Okotoks.

Update: Mandel calls bike-lane plans a nightmare

EDMONTON – Edmonton’s bike-lane construction plans are turning into a “nightmare” that is pushing cars off the road, says Mayor Stephen Mandel.

“(The project) is becoming something more far-reaching than I think council had once anticipated,” Mandel said Wednesday at council’s transportation committee.
