A second part of Coal Mine Road will be closed to traffic for good later this month.
City council passed a bylaw July 2 following a public hearing. With the passage of the bylaw, notices have been placed along Coal Mine Road warning of the upcoming closure. It will be shuttered to traffic for good on July 18.

The city is closing McCall Lake Golf Course in a bid to balance green fees for all city courses, officials say.
Golfers will have access to the northeast city golf course until the end of the 2014 golf season.
City officials are saying the golf course imposes “significant operating and capital costs.”

Colchester School will be closing and moving to Fultonvale School due to the 500-kv Heartland Transmission Project’s construction.
According to Bruce Beliveau, superintendent of Schools for Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS), the move is needed due to the proximity of powerlines from the Heartland project. Line builder Epcor offered alternative routes around the school, but EIPS opted to move the school’s students to Fultonvale Elementary-Junior High.
Modular classrooms will be on site at Fultonvale by July 1, 2013 and will be ready for the 2013 – 2014 school year.
