City unanimously approves $245M downtown central library, to be completed by 2018

After getting council’s unanimous approval, the team building a new central library plans to select an architect by September.

Then, groundbreaking by next year, although many of the $245-million project’s leaders hope the four-year construction timeline is a cautious exaggeration.

Library revamp in near future

SPRUCE GROVE – The Spruce Grove Public Library will receive $37,825 of funding from the Federal Government. The funding will be provided under the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.

The library put in an application for funding and was successful in their efforts. Funds will be used to upgrade the facility, allowing patrons to more easily browse and access material.

New comprehensive library plan of service will sprout more partnerships

Changes are happening at the Peace River Municipal Library following the completion of its new Plan of Service, a document created from the pulse of the community and adaptable enough to grow with changing needs.

Library staff and board members as well as a hand-selected committee of community representatives created 2012 Plan of Service, which is good for three years.
