No new bridges in transportation master plan

Some city intersections have become bottlenecks. Some roads need to be widened.

Those improvements are in the works. But Lethbridge’s new transportation master plan isn’t calling for any major projects – not for many years.

The plan, including specific upgrades over the next 10 years, is currently outlined on displays at City Hall. Highlights will be posted on the city’s website (http://www.lethbridge.ca/default.aspx) with public comments invited.

More time for levy plan

City of St. Albert staff and representatives of the development industry need more time to hash out a new plan for offsite levies, city council heard Monday.

City staff came before council at their regular meeting Monday to give a report on progress of meetings with the Urban Development Institute to figure out a new framework for offsite levies, which he said was going slower than expected.

First phase of Mitford Park upgrades to move forward following Kraft Tour

Upgrades to the Mitford Park area, which include a structure, skate-changing bench, picnic tables and a permanent electrical feed, are moving forward following this summer’s Kraft Celebration Tour, where Cochrane saw a visit from TSN and received $25,000 in grant money to go toward the improvement project.

Plan aims to open more space in Cochrane

The west has always been known for its wide-open spaces, and now holding the draft for a new plan, Cochrane is hoping it soon will be as well.

Administration for the Town of Cochrane presented the first draft of the Open Spaces Master Plan (OSMP) to council on Oct. 9, highlighting several findings from the first phase of the public engagement, including several major parks that are proposed in the plan.
